Associate Director of Annual Giving

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director of Annual Giving is responsible for leading University Advancement’s athletic engagement and fundraising efforts. In partnership with Athletic Department staff, they are charged with developing and managing The Scarlet & Brown Club to drive engagement, philanthropy, and mentorship. The Associate Director, who will serve as a primary campus liaison for the Club, will work closely with the Athletic Director, coaches and volunteers on athletic-dedicated fundraising initiatives and projects, including appeals, giving challenges, etc., while serving as a conduit for critical fundraising project information to the major and planned giving staff. S/he will also plan, coordinate and staff strategic athletic-affinity events both on- and off-campus, and as a volunteer management expert, may help manage at least one Reunion milestone annually.

Salary range $60,405.80 – $62,000 annually. The actual rate will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Duties/Responsibilities

(50%) Develop and manage The Scarlet & Brown Club, a donor club dedicated to Saints Athletics, as well as lend support to additional athletic engagement and fundraising initiatives.

These may include:

  • Engaging, soliciting and stewarding members of the Club, while partnering with Advancement colleagues who manage prospects that would be potential members.
  • Planning and executing Scarlet and Brown Club meetings and events, to be determined with athletic and advancement leadership.
  • Developing a strategic solicitation plan for Saints alumni and families, including donor challenges and special initiatives such as the Here We Go Saints Challenge. A blend of both budget relief and budget enhancement fundraising is expected.
  • In consultation with the Athletic Director, coordinate strategic priorities with major gift staff, including restricted current-use, endowment and capital support.
  • Develop relationships with coaches and athletic staff to understand the impact of engagement and philanthropy, while supporting their vision for their respective programs.
  • Provide support to alumni-based volunteer efforts for athletics, including the Hockey Alumni Association, Friends of Saints Football, etc.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of alumni for annual and leadership-level gifts to athletics.

(20%) Plan and staff both on- and off-campus athletic events as assigned, while traveling to meet with Laurentian donors, prospects, and volunteers.

(20%) Manage at least one Reunion milestone celebration and all athletic affinity anniversary celebrations. This includes recruiting volunteers, serving as a primary contact, and participating in the weekend’s events.

(10%) Perform other duties as assigned to support University Advancement’s goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • Three years minimum experience in fundraising, higher education, athletics, alumni relations, or a similar field preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in The Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, build effective relationships, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with Laurentians with the highest degree of professionalism.
  • A willingness to travel frequently and to work some evenings and weekends.
