Job Summary:
Assists the Senior Associate Director with the operation of the Law School Fund – the annual giving program of the Law School.  Manages the direct solicitation program (Phonathon, mail and e-mail) with direction from the senior associate director.  With input from the senior associate director creates a communication strategy based on analysis of direct marketing results and is responsible for implementation of that plan including drafting appeals, working with marketing on design of collateral, completing analysis of results and providing direct oversight and coaching to the program assistant assigned to direct mail. Supports the Law School Fund programs, and defines specific components of the direct mail program, Wigmore Club efforts and works closely with other members of the Alumni Relations and Development team and training staff as needed on projects.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management of the Annual Giving direct mail, e-mail, pledge reminders, and phonathon solicitation programs under the supervision of the Senior Associate Director of Annual Giving.  Writing appeals (hard copy and e-mail), developing segmentation, managing data pulls, coordinating mail tests, and conducting post-appeal analysis and providing direct oversight of Program Assistant in list development, mail house interactions and mail/e-blast execution.
  • Plans and implements annual reunion giving for two alumni volunteer committees, including development of fundraising goals, participation/solicitation strategies, creation of solicitation mailings, analysis of alumni giving, ongoing communications and follow-up.
  • Cultivates new and lapsed donors through research and personal visits and/or phone solicitations, averaging 2-3 solicitations (in person, phone, or by proxy) per month.  Cultivates new and lapsed donors through personal visits with no less than 25 prospects per year.
  • Supports the overall Annual Fund strategic planning including ongoing data management and analysis, report creation and auditing, tracking statistics for Annual Fund programs. Process creation/implementation, training and collaboration with Law ARD team members on various systems including: data management, Microsoft Access/Excel, budget, etc.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on direct marketing efforts related to volunteer projects and programs including Young Alumni Leadership Council, Graduating Class Gift, Reunion, Firm and Corporate Challenge and LSF Board.
  • Participates in other meetings, attends Law School events during the day and evenings and performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years development, marketing, sales or the equivalent experience is required.

  • Organization, detail oriented, able to take verbal/oral instruction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient with Excel
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with people – internally and externally
  • Experience with data analysis and donor segmentation
