Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship

The Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship contributes to the Donor Relations and Stewardship team’s overall goal of building a culture of gratitude and impact for and with donors, campus partners, and students. This individual will play a key role in managing stewardship reporting at the Foundation, including donor fund reporting, beneficiary reporting, and impact reporting. The Assistant director is someone who excels at project management, attention to detail, creative inquiry, and collaborative partnerships.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Donor Relations and Stewardship team’s efforts to increase donor retention year over year overall and within key constituencies and gift bands through execution of a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship plan.
  • Work with internal colleagues and external vendors to produce donor acknowledgements for various donor segments and giving behaviors, including first-time donors, recurring donors, donors to athletics, donor anniversaries, etc. Maintain a rigorous acknowledgments schedule and run reports and queries regularly to ensure donor acknowledgements are delivered in a timely manner. Collaborate with the Engagement and Strategy Coordinator to produce and send digital monthly donor reports to campus partners.
  • In partnership with the Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship, design/compose personalized major donor thank you letters and videos on behalf of the University President and the Foundation President.
  • Contribute to impact reporting initiatives for donors, primarily through project managing the Foundation’s Digital Impact Video Series and collaborating with the Director of Donor Relations to produce the Foundation’s annual impact report. Identify powerful stories and collaborate with internal colleagues and campus partners to produce high-quality deliverables (videos, print and digital communications, etc).
  • Manage annual fund and beneficiary reporting projects to ensure timely and meaningful reports are provided to donors. Be proficient in reporting software and tools.
  • Assist with the execution of the One Ball State Day stewardship plan.
  • Supervise a graduate assistant and/or intern responsible for the production of personalized thank you videos, thank you cards, and other similar communications.
  • Stay abreast of current and evolving trends in donor relations, stewardship and recognition. Connect with peers at other institutions, and proactively participate in webinars and conferences that provide professional growth opportunities.
  • Assist with other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Experience:

Two years of experience in donor relations, annual giving, marketing, sales, project management or related field, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of Blackbaud (Raisers Edge) and/or Fundraising Performance Management.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to project manage many tasks at once.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suites.
  • Supervisory experience.
