Senior Associate Director of Annual Programs
Primary Function:
This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of the Jefferson Fund and the Director of Annual Giving. The Senior Associate Director of Annual Programs, works collaboratively with Jefferson University and Health leadership, (collectively “Jefferson Health”) and Institutional Advancement (IA) team to create engagement and outreach programs to enhance the effectiveness of major gift and annual gift fundraising initiatives. The Senior Associate Director develops fundraising and engagement strategies for all volunteer programs such as Parent Programs, Class Reunions/Agents, Student Programs, and Employee/Staff and Faculty campaigns to increase revenue and participation in the Jefferson Fund. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for establishing and managing successful relationships and strategies that result in greater affinity and engagement with the University and Hospital, increased annual financial support and enhance the fundraising pipeline. Through extensive knowledge in constituent relations, programming/event management, and fundraising principles, the Senior Associate Director applies creative and strategic thinking to planning and fundraising processes to increase employee/parent/alumni/student involvement and development.
Essential Functions:
- Develops volunteer engagement programs with an aim to build relationships focused on parents of current students, alumni celebrating a reunion, staff and faculty fundraising initiatives, and securing student giving volunteers.
- Develops fundraising initiatives to broaden the University’s donor base and create new donor pipelines.
- Works with the Director of Annual Giving and other campus stakeholders to develop a schedule of programs and activities to cultivate the interest and involvement of key volunteer constituencies.
- Manages parents, class agents and/or reunion volunteers, and student volunteers to support philanthropic goals and to explore new ways to engage alumni, parents, and students in outreach opportunities.
- Plans and implements cultivation and stewardship events and develop marketing and fundraising strategies designed to increase giving and participation.
- Develops and implements processes and solicitation strategies in coordination with annual giving programs for the annual solicitation of donors and prospective donors up to $10,000 with an emphasis on securing support for the Jefferson Fund through volunteer program initiatives.
- Solicitation activities are primarily focused on volunteer recruitment opportunities and personal solicitations/visits with identified volunteers.
- Works closely with staff and alumni leaders to identify, recruit, and manage volunteer committees to maximize dollar and participation results.
- The Senior Associate Director is responsible for developing and implementing program-wide fundraising plans and individual prospect strategies.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
Educational/Training Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
Experience Requirements:
- 2-5 years of professional experience in higher education fundraising or alumni relations.
- One to two years of experience in development or fundraising in non-profit organizations or closely related fields which utilize skills such as sales, marketing and public relations.
- Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with parents, students, and alumni from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
Additional Information:
- This position requires a command of basic fundraising principles, a high level of organization, professionalism, and a broad familiarity with the objectives of annual giving.
- Produce and distribute reports needed in order for Institutional Advancement leadership to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of the program according to an agreed upon schedule.
- Strong organization, time management and collaboration skills.
- Proven experience in volunteer management.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of philanthropy in higher education.
