Director of Annual Giving
The Director of Annual Giving is a key position within the university’s advancement team, tasked with developing resources to support the mission of MBU: Empowering tomorrow’s inclusive leaders to pursue lives of purpose and professional success. Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Campaign Director, the Director will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of annual giving programs aimed at increasing current-use unrestricted revenue and alumni participation rates.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a strategic plan to increase current-use giving with the goal of ultimately raising $2 million in renewable support through the annual fund each year;
- Develop and execute strategies to maximize annual fund leadership gifts, with special emphasis on gifts between $1,000-$50,000;
- Create targeted communications and engagement programs for key constituency groups including students, young alumni, reunion alumni, parents, and faculty/staff;
- Manage the design, writing, printing, and production of segmented direct mail appeals;
- Coordinate digital fundraising efforts including email, social media, texting, crowdfunding,video, and digital ads;
- Plan and execute a university giving day;
- Manage gift acknowledgment and donor stewardship efforts aimed at increasingretention rates;
- Monitor, analyze, and report on annual giving program performance;
- Collaborate with advancement colleagues, the Office of Integrated Communications, andother campus partners to implement and consistently improve annual giving strategies.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years relevant experience in direct marketing, sales, and/or fundraising; experience in higher education advancement a plus;
- Clear understanding of annual giving and the important role it plays within advancement;
- Knowledge of best practices in digital marketing and communications;
- Experience working with vendors;
- Good communication, organization, writing, and analytical skills;
- Sincere interest in supporting higher education;
- Bachelor’s degree.
This is a mobile hybrid role. The main work location would be from home with a minimum of 2 days in the office a month. The details/schedule would be flexible but also based on the timing of university activities, events, etc
