Alumni Engagement Officer
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Engagement Officer is responsible for soliciting annual gifts from, and identifying engagement opportunities for Mount St. Mary’s alumni.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of alumni to:
- Promote staying connected, informed and involved;
- Recruit and expand the Mount’s professional network;
- Encourage annual giving.
- Connect with alumni based on university priorities through email, social media, mailings, phone calls, and face to face meetings. Travel may be up to 40% of the time.
- Identify alumni as potential volunteers and board prospects for roles including National Alumni Association Council, Young Alumni Council, reunion, and class committees.
- Identify, recruit and train volunteers for assigned reunion committees.
- Assist committees with planning of celebratory events.
- Oversee marketing plan and timeline for reunion communications.
- Implement and execute class reunion events and solicitations in collaboration with the Assistant Director for Operations for the Office of Alumni Engagement.
- Assist with solicitation efforts for reunion programs, including but not limited to letters, promotional material and resources.
- Plan, organize, and administer the programming of a Class Agent program. Maintain regular contact with class volunteers. Coordinate conference calls and/or on-site meetings.
- Assist with the coordination of class reunion and peer-to-peer outreach programs for reunion giving, One Mount One Day, etc., including establishing, training and motivating volunteers as well as providing necessary staff support.
- Assist in developing, implementing and coordinating a meaningful donor stewardship experience that fosters a long-term engagement and investment
- Provide programming support for alumni regional chapters and events sponsored by the National Alumni Association.
- Act as an official representative for the Office of Alumni Engagement at Alumni and University functions.
- Present Mount St. Mary’s University mission/vision to gathered groups as needed.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years’ experience in fundraising or related work experience, or a combination of education and/or experience in fundraising or related work experience totaling approximately 5 years. Undergraduate advancement experience may be considered for work related experience.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Possess and demonstrate interpersonal relationship skills such that one can work independently and in a multi- layered team environment while fostering positive relationships, teamwork, and cooperation so that the organization can be successful in meeting its goals.
- Willingness to travel and work evening hours and weekends.
- Familiarity with database computer software and computer applications with excellent skills especially in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and concern for Catholic education.
- Must have a driver’s license.
