Senior Advancement Officer for Annual Giving & Membership

The Senior Advancement Officer is a member of the Annual Giving and Membership (AGM) team within the Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA). This position will work under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Leadership Annual Giving, and in collaboration with the AGM team and other advancement colleagues, to contribute to a successful and comprehensive cultivation, solicitation and stewardship program that involves alumni, friends of the university, with the end goal of securing gifts and increasing affinity. This individual will need to be highly motivated and is expected maintain a portfolio of up to 150 prospects with giving affinities to all parts of MU. Specific duties of this position are as follows:

  • Identify, contact, visit and solicit lead annual giving donor prospects to create and grow a pipeline of major gift ($50,000 and above) donors.
  • Strategic development and management of a portfolio of 150 donor prospects capable of making gifts of $1,000-$49,999 annually.
  • Make donor referrals to Advancement and campus-wide gift officers, as appropriate.
  • Creatively thank donors by showing impact of gifts made.
  • Attend a variety of events throughout the year. Regular travel and occasional night and weekend work are required.
  • Maintain complete and orderly correspondence with donors in our database.

Salary

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience.
  • Salary Range: $53,600 – $96,992, Compensation for this position starts at $55,000

Shift

  • Monday thru Friday, 8-5; Some travel will be required (25%)
  • This Position is located in Columbia, Missouri

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in a fundraising role
  • Experience working in academic higher education and a capital/comprehensive campaign is highly desired.
  • The ability to work effectively with a team and with many diverse constituencies should be evident.
  • Other important characteristics include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, emotional intelligence, excellent communication and organizational skills, strategic thinking and planning skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of the University of Missouri.
  • Strong organizational skills are required, exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills are essential
