Job Description Summary

The Associate Director of Marketing and Operations for The Wharton Fund will report to and work closely with the Senior Associate Director of Marketing and Operations to fulfill all the responsibilities of soliciting for The Wharton Fund. This includes pulling, cleaning and prospect management approvals for five mailings and numerous email solicitations including monthly emails and mailings. In addition, responsible for monthly stewardship of 10,000+ annual donors with a special focus on the 1,900+ Benjamin Franklin Society donors. Liaise with School and Center office to facilitate phone program. Responsible for online engagement, providing new relevant content for the WF Website including regularly auditing the site for improvements, errors, and updates. Provide strategy and input for social media. Assist with all mass mail and email communications and taking on a heavier role when Loyalty Society or Stewardship focused. Responsible for Monthly Renewal Emails and Mailings and responsible for Pledge Reminder Process.

Job Description

The Associate Director, Wharton Fund, Marketing and Operations reports to the Senior Associate Director of Marketing and Operations. This role is responsible for assisting in the marketing materials from the Wharton School on behalf of The Wharton Fund.

As part of The Wharton Fund team’s efforts to increase the support to the Wharton School, the Associate Director focuses on:

  • Responsible for generation of solicitation data
    • Responsible for working with PMs on prospect solicitation approvals
    • Responsible for Monthly Renewal Emails and Mailings
    • Responsible for Pledge Reminder Process
  • Serves as main contact for Annual Giving Officers, specifically Reunion and WEMBA
    • Responsible for working with AGOs on Reunion communications for all classes
  • Responsible for online engagement, providing new relevant content for the WF Website
    • Regularly audits the site for improvements, errors, and updates
    • Provides strategy and input for social media
  • Performs ongoing analysis of fund’s performance to help guide strategy
  • Responsible for stewardship and program’s honor roll
    • Works closely with Sr. Assoc. on BFS stewardship
  • Assist with all mass mail and email communications
    • Takes on heavier role when Loyalty Society or Stewardship focused
  • Serves as main contact for Reports and Gifts and Records Administration
  • Serves as main contact for SACAG and student calling program
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • The ideal candidate will be well versed in generating appeal data, creative, entrepreneurial, and understand marketing and segmentation trends for annual giving, with a particular focus on direct mail/email solicitations, student calling and on-line engagement strategies. Higher-ed experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong project management, detail-oriented and data analysis skills are necessary.
  • A high level of self-confidence and enthusiasm for higher education is preferred. Excellent technical skills (specifically Microsoft Excel, fundraising software like PeopleSoft or Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge). A commitment to customer service and collaboration with internal colleagues and external constituents is expected. Ability to be diplomatic with a wide variety of constituents including donors, vendors, colleagues and supervisors.
