Job Description:

The Lawrenceville School is a highly selective private independent boarding school that has built a legacy of excellence in education and has earned national recognition for its commitment to environmental sustainability. The 200 year-old campus occupies 350 landscaped acres in the historical town of Lawrenceville, NJ and is listed on the National Historic Register as reflected by the campus’s old-world architecture and landscaping.

Summary:

The Assistant/Associate Director leads efforts focused on increasing alumni participation across a wide range of classes. The Assistant/Associate Director will manage the Class Agent Program for classes between the 15th Reunion and 45th Reunion (excluding milestone Reunions). They will be responsible for leading all mini-campaigns and other short-term giving challenges focused on donor retention and acquisition. The Assistant/Associate Director will also assist with the email and digital solicitation strategy for international alumni and parents, past parents and grandparents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads alumni participation strategies including:
    • The recruitment, training, management and stewardship of class agents from the classes between their 15th and 45th reunion.
    • Using best practices from other institutions and an organizational framework, build the Class Agent Program in conjunction with the Director of Annual Giving. This includes process documentation for the program, job descriptions and volunteer engagement protocols and tools.
    • Overall management for class campaigns with a special focus on using emerging technologies and tactics that help increase alumni participation.
    • Comprehensive oversight of class specific marketing and communications efforts to drive annual fund donors, using industry best practices and analytics to make decisions and set strategy.
  • Manages all mini-campaigns and other short-term giving challenges focused on increasing alumni participation.
  • Assists with the email and digital solicitation strategy for international alumni and parents, past parents and grandparents in collaboration with annual giving and Asia Programs colleagues.

  • Must be able to recruit, train, motivate, and retain a corps of committed volunteers for Lawrenceville.
  • Must be able to work earnestly and cooperatively as a team with coworkers and vulunteers, and give and receive feedback.
  • Must be able to work in a friendly and collegial manner, with a thorough appreciation for the goals and mission of Lawrenceville, the interests of independent secondary education, and an understanding of liberal education as well as the operations that attend to schools of that nature.
  • Must have a high level of ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with all types of volunteers.
  • Must be able to analyze and determine strategies for engagement and fund development, and must be able to present frequent goal analysis and results and be prepared to suggest new strategies when appropriate.
  • Should have some experience with class segmentation and be able to identify specific alumni constituencies within classes.
  • Must possess clear, concise, and effective writing and speaking skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two to three years of development experience and/or direct solicitation experience required
