Responsibilities

The Advancement Officer, Scholarships, is responsible for developing and managing a program that identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors who are capable of, and interested in, supporting annual and endowed scholarships. The person in this position will be responsible for creating annual scholarship and endowment agreements, monitoring compliance with donor agreement guidelines, coordinating the donor thank you process, and preparing reports on donor-funded scholarships.

Characteristic Duties:

  • Manage a portfolio of scholarship donors
  • Implement an annual plan for securing new scholarships and renewing established scholarships, with monthly activity and progress goals.
  • Review and manage the acceptance and filing of donor agreements
  • Maintain an accurate list of all privately funded scholarships
  • Implement donor thank you process, including reviewing and sending of thank you letters from students to donors
  • Prepare reports that reflect the impact of scholarships to donors
  • Assure donor confidentiality as well as the confidentiality of the projects undertaken by University Advancement and Alumni Relations by conducting all personal contacts and communications with donors in a professional manner.
  • Work with appropriate staff on the stewardship of scholarship donors.
  • Assist with other development projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience required. Prior experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success of soliciting individuals.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication skills including ability to write and speak persuasively about the institution.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also working as a member of the University Advancement team.

Minimum Salary

$47,500 annually
