Associate Director of Young Alumni Engagement – Atlanta Alumni Center

Reporting to the Senior Director, the Associate Director of Young Alumni Engagement is responsible for managing the Office of Alumni Relation’s young alumni engagement strategy, oversees the Young Alumni Council, and partners with the Division of Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) and campus colleagues to increase young alumni participation. The Associate Director manages volunteer training sessions, recruits volunteer leaders, and leads the marketing effort in collaboration with university departments to develop a diverse and representative ambassador group. This position implements and executes plans to engage targeted alumni groups at the university to increase young alumni engagement through strategic outreach in partnership with councils and affinity groups of the UGA Alumni Association. This position assists in the oversight of Alumni Association board activities and interactions associated with honorees of the Bulldog 100 and 40 Under 40 programs.
This position also works collaboratively with the DAR Annual Giving team and Donor Relations and Stewardship team to steward and retain young alumni donors, mobilizing the Young Alumni Council to strategically enhance fundraising and stewardship efforts, along with supporting the successful alignment of the strategies, programs, and management of volunteer groups the Student Alumni Council and the Young Alumni Council.
Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Philanthropic Engagement (30%)
    • Manage strategy to increase philanthropic engagement among young alumni at the institution; partner with Development & Alumni Relations’ (DAR) colleagues, Alumni relations team members, and campus departments to strategically identify and implement pathways to increase engagement among all young alumni at the university; use data to drive decision making processes and identification of targets for young alumni participation and engagement; assist division colleagues in meeting key metrics for young alumni participation and involving the young alumni council in university-wide fundraising efforts.
    • Creates and maintains engagement plans for council volunteers that have potential to be major gift donors/prospects, leadership annual gift donors/prospects, or board pipeline prospects.
  • Volunteer Engagement and Management (30%)
    • Develop strategy and annual goals for targeted young alumni engagement initiatives by overseeing the management, planning, implementation, and follow-up of alumni volunteer needs, specifically needs pertaining to the Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Council; plan and implement Young Alumni Council membership efforts to ensure council members are equipped to serve as peer-to-peer ambassadors to help advance the philanthropic mission of the University and DAR, along with supporting Alumni Relations’ engagement goals; responsible for training and coaching council leaders; oversee four quarterly planning retreats for the council.
    • Provide staff support to identified volunteers on the UGA Alumni Association Board of Directors and committees; assist with board activities as assigned.
  • Experiential Engagement and Programming (15%)
    • Increase young alumni engagement through assigned event initiatives including, but not limited to, Young Alumni Night at Sweetwater, Young Alumni at Ponce City Market and Young Alumni Trivia; partner with Alumni Relations Regional Engagement team to increase young alumni participation in regional events; assist with the execution of Alumni Association signature events and initiatives such as 40 Under 40, Bulldog 100, Alumni Weekend, and Alumni Awards.
  • Strategy and Collaboration (15%)
    • Research and develop best practices for young alumni engagement, aligning philanthropic, communication, experiential, and volunteer strategies with department and division goals.
    • Work collaboratively with DAR and campus colleagues to identify young alumni to strategically engage in department and/or division sponsored opportunities.
    • In partnership with DAR colleagues, school and college contacts, the Associate Director of Student Engagement, the Student Engagement Coordinator, and the UGA Division of Student Affairs, implement targeted outreach strategies to student leaders to educate about young alumni engagement opportunities.
    • Proactively communicate with alumni directors in schools and colleges about young alumni focused initiatives hosted by Alumni Relations.
  • Program Administration (5%)
    • Regularly update the Giving and Alumni Information Link (GAIL) system with interactions and notes regarding alumni contact.
    • Assist in budget oversight by managing assigned event and program budgets
    • Support in the hiring, training, supervision, and development of student worker(s).
    • Provide additional support to student philanthropic and experiential engagement opportunities where needed.
  • Other special project duties as assigned by the Senior Director (5%)

Minimum Qualifications: 

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.  Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Additional Schedule Information: 

8:00am–5:00pm; Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessary
