Director of Annual Giving
The Director of Annual Giving manages all functions of the annual giving program, which entails direct mail, phonathons, personal visits, prospect screening, database segmentation and related marketing efforts.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Executive Vice President
Supervision Exercised: Hires and manages work-study students and other students involved in phonathons. Management of volunteers to support fundraising and stewardship efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages a comprehensive annual giving program, including the coordination of and oversight for supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations, through a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone, social media, personal visits, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
- Provides oversight and develops a strategy for increasing alumni participation and gift amounts in annual giving to The Loyalty Fund and other annual restricted funds
- Work with College departments to organize and deploy volunteers to advance the College’s mission and vision.
- Expand on opportunities of President’s Circle Society to create pipeline for major gifts.
- Partner with athletics liaison on coordinating fundraising efforts, with specific goals.
- Recruit volunteers and manage and direct programs in which they are involved.
- Design and implement the annual giving program from concept to completion.
- Identify and meet with annual fund prospects.
- Supervise the creation and mailing of all announcements and appeals.
- Recruit and meet with annual giving volunteers.
- Conduct personal solicitations with annual fund donors and prospects.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of progressive experience in alumnae/i relations and/or fund raising, and familiarity with principles and practices of annual giving.
- Experience in educational advancement preferred.
- Demonstration of creativity and self-initiation in formulating plans and developing solicitation and stewardship concepts and materials.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; demonstrated personal solicitation experience.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of database research and maintenance.
- Ability to work with students, as well as volunteers of all ages.
- Must be able to travel and work evenings and weekends as warranted.
