Assistant Director, Annual Giving

Assists Sr. Associate Director with the operation of the Law School Fund – the annual giving program of the Law School.  Responsible for building and managing the annual Graduating Class Gift Challenge campaign, recent graduate volunteer programs and relationships, cultivating new and lapsed donors through personal visits with a focus on recent grads (young alumni), and alumni celebrating their 5th, 10th, & 15th reunions. Manages ongoing analysis of fundraising progress to assess the effectiveness, plan new initiatives, and build strategy for growth. Limited regional travel required.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage the Annual Graduating Class Challenge program in collaboration with the Alumni Relations team:
    • Identify and recruit 20-30 student leaders for student committee
    • Set and achieve program goals
    • Drive strategy for student engagement and participation in the Challenge
    • Partner with Alumni Relations and the Young Alumni volunteers to support long term volunteer development
    • Analyze and report on program metrics
  • Cultivates new and lapsed donors through personal visits with no fewer than 50 prospects per year. Alumni visits will focus on Alumni from assigned reunion classes, alumni at major firms/corporations, (specifically Young Alumni), and leadership giving prospects
  • Responsible for managing and developing strategy for recent graduate/young alumni giving & engagement through 15th reunion.
    • Develop relationships with and engage volunteers from young alumni through existing ARD programs
    • Define and implement a strategy for furthering enhancing giving through a variety of channels and creative opportunities
    • Meet or exceed annual giving participation goals set for young alumni co-hort
    • Analyze and report on program metrics
  • Manages the fundraising strategy for the annual 5th, 10th & 15th reunions, including setting goals, committee management, and advancing reunion fundraising in collaboration with the alumni relations team.
    • Recruits and solicits volunteers through face-to-face visits
    • Work with AR liaisons to manage reunion communication strategy and peer to peer volunteer outreach
    • Set and achieve goals set by each class for donor participation and dollars raised.
  • Supports the overall Annual Fund strategic plan which includes data management and personal outreach for Annual Fund programs, phone and internet initiatives in accordance with the Annual Fund’s strategic plan and calendar, attending meetings, attending and supporting events, participating in professional development opportunities, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years development, marketing, sales or the equivalent experience

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Organization, detail oriented, able to take verbal/oral instruction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years’ progressive fundraising experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and experience presenting in front of a group.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced knowledge of Access, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with constituency management databases.
  • Development experience at a higher education institution, preferably in Annual Giving.
  • Experience in working with/managing volunteers.
  • Experience with face-to-face solicitations

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Significant experience in data analysis, Access programming and donor segmentation
