Job Description: 

The IU Foundation invites strategic and innovative annual giving leaders to apply to serve as Associate Director of Annual Giving Strategy with the IU Foundation.

Reporting to the AVP, Annual Giving, and collaborating with annual giving leadership across all IU campuses, the Associate Director is responsible for strategically managing and growing multiple new, evolving, and current programmatic initiatives including the Annual Giving Officer program, as well as the recurring, online, parent, faculty/staff, planned giving lead generation, and matching gift programs.

Further, the Associate Director will also create and implement new specialized annual giving strategies specifically designed for donor acquisition. This role will be a partner with the Donor Engagement and Stewardship team to ensure innovative stewardship communication is deployed for annual giving-level donors.

Qualifications: 

Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 5 years of Advancement experience including demonstrated success in individual or annual giving
  • Experience as a user of fundraising platforms and data management systems; experience with contact management platforms, such as Salesloft, a plus
  • Experience with moves management including, but not limited to, audience segmentation and identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

Skills/Abilities Required: 

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear and persuasive presentations
  • Excellent time management skills and a high degree of organization, careful attention to detail, ability to multitask and to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, managing people and budgets, and an ability to work in a hands-on environment
  • Well-disciplined, self-motivated, and goal-driven; able to work with a high degree of independence as well as part of a team
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information
  • Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to participate in cross-departmental projects, using tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve problems
