Help us expand annual giving at Catholic Charities of Chicago! The Annual Fund Manager helps manage donors who give regularly:  Assist with planning and implementation of two major annual appeals plus year-round giving efforts. The successful candidate will have experience and interest in letter writing, advertising, marketing, and/or donor relations.  Activities include some or all of the following:  direct mail, email campaigns, mailing management, data analysis, online ads, direct donor outreach, social media content, donor event management and more.   This role has a hybrid schedule and reports to the Senior Director of Annual Giving.

Essential Functions: 

  • Contribute to comprehensive annual plans for annual appeals as well as the year-round giving program. Plans include establishing goals for upgrading and retaining current donors, restarting lapsed donors and acquiring new donors up to $10,000 annually.
  • Work independently and consistently exercise sound judgment in developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the appeal processes which includes writing direct mail and email, segmenting and exporting mailing lists, renting mailing lists, overseeing mailings, analyzing the returns and recommending improvements.
  • Develop segmented strategies and multi-channel communications to increase giving to all Appeals
  • Engage with parishes and pastors to promote the Mothers’ Day Appeal and Second Collection for Catholic Charities.
  • Provide stewardship to all levels of Annual Fund donors, including gift acknowledgments, individual donor reports and recognition.
  • Provide leadership and direction to grow the annual fund program, upgrade the donor base and build a prospect program for individual gift cultivation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments like Communications, Data Services, and Parish Outreach to gain insights and execute optimized outreach.
  • Work with Events team on content and execution of occasional in-person stewardship events.
  • Produce regular giving reports for the annual fund program informed by macro trends that may affect giving levels.
  • Use discretion while maintaining effective and open communication with donors, funders, board members, consultants, volunteers, parish staff, pastors, and Catholic Charities staff.

Education and Experience Requirements: 

Minimum Relevant Education: Bachelor’s Degree with the preferred years of relevant experience

Minimum Relevant Experience 3-5 Years

Three years of development experience including demonstrated success in management of annual giving, sales, or marketing. Experience with fundraising and data management systems; Raiser’s Edge highly desirable. Experience with moves management including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Preferred Relevant Experience 5-7 Years

Five years of development experience including demonstrated success in fundraising and management. Experience with data management systems like Raiser’s Edge; managing mailed and emailed appeals; and direct donor communication. Experience with moves management including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
